- According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, roughly 200 Student
and Exchange Visitor Program(SEVP) certified schools
each year go out of business or have SEVP certification
removed (January 2007 Fact Sheet). If you are a student
at one of these schools, you need to know what to
do to maintain your nonimmigrant status, what legal
obligations your school has to assist you, and what
you should do if the school does not fulfill its legal
obligations. We strongly urge that you read the following
Fact Sheet
published in January 2007 in order for you to clearly
and completely understand your alternatives to maintain
nonimmigrant status when an SEVP-certified school
closes or loses its certification to enroll F-1 nonimmigrant
students. In addition, SEVIS
Fact Sheet is also provided for
you because it is very important that you understand
and comply with the requirements governing your stay
to ensure that you don’t jeopardize your immigration
status. It is your
right and responsibility to know all the facts.
- SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
is the one and only SEVP-certified school which bears
the name SISA listed in
the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-SEVIS
Approved Schools list, and SISA AMERICAN
LANGUAGE CENTER is the one and only
school which bears the name SISA
listed in the State of California-Bureau for Private
Postsecondary and Vocational Education(BPPVE) approved
school list. SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
has NO affiliation with any other school/educational
and/or business organization, using and/or abusing
the name “SISA” in the Republic
of Korea or in the United States. (City of Stanton/Garden
Grove, County of Orange, State of California-BPPVE
& U.S. Department of Homeland Security-USICE: SEVIS,
SEVP-certified school)
- SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
and Cypress College(North Orange County Community
College
District) have established a Cooperative Transfer
Agreement which is a partnership for the purpose of
assisting international students in their pursuit
of education and English language skills (International
Students-Intensive English Language Programs). A letter
of Cooperation was issued and signed by both Cypress
College-International Student Program Manager/PDSO
and SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER-President/PDSO
in October 2004. [The Agreement and
our school performance are being
reviewed on an annual basis, and our school receives
a Quarterly Report(International Student Transfer
list from SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
to Cypress College) from Cypress College-International
Student Program Manager/PDSO. Furthermore, Cypress
College-International Student Program conducts on-site
visits at least three or four times annually, and
holds college presentations simultaneously at our
school]. SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
is one of the few Intensive English Language Programs
that actually offers such worthwhile presentations
for the international community, and our school program
is being recognized as one of the best Intensive English
Language programs in the Southern California.
- SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
has been accepting international youths through our
school’s International Youth Programs since 2004.
A great number of qualified international youths have
joined our Youth Programs, have successfully completed
their Language Training programs, and some of them
have been accepted at reputable private junior highs
and private high schools accredited by Western Association
of Schools and Colleges(WASC)- Accrediting Commission
for Schools, and accredited by other accrediting agencies.
Some of the schools are, for instance, Calvary Chapel
Christian School in California, Whittier Christian
High School in California, Southlands Christian Schools
in California, and Summit Christian Academy (Central
Texas Summit Christian School System, Inc). SISA
AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER is one of the
few English as a Second Language(ESL)/Intensive English
Language Program training schools offering such programs,
and it has been proved that our International Youths
Programs are extremely successful in training those
promising youths since 2004.

staff, faculty, and instructors are also keenly aware
of th
e
fact that all of our students are from abroad, and
thus our school makes the utmost efforts to minimize
culture shock which at times makes those foreign students
feel uncomfortable and baffled. In an effort to alleviate
their culture shock and awkwardness, our school occasionally
holds and sponsors events, such as a potluck party,
outdoor picnic, and selected movie going. Through
those events, our students not only enjoy comradery
among themselves, but also immensely appreciate the
opportunity to learn a new culture and a new way of
thinking. By sharing their stories and personal experiences
with themselves and our staff, faculty, and instructors
while attending the events, our students learn invaluable
lessons as well as “DO’s and DON’T’s” might save them
from a variety of embarrassments, “mind-boggling”
incidents and/or accidents, and even save them from
a legal trouble caused by a cultural difference/conflict
and lack of common knowledge of the U.S. laws and
regulations. Our school spares no efforts to give
our students priceless advice and counsel on the matters
regarding maintaining F-1 nonimmigrant status and
being a law-abiding individual. For instance, our
school staff and faculty always emphasize that our
students MUST keep their
important file and school document(s) and/or record(s)
in a safe and secure place for the proof(s) and/or
evidence and for the future uses. We always advise
our students that they MUST
carry proper document(s) when they travel abroad,
and advise our students to be alert and not to be
in any kind of danger. We are also emphatic about
the importance of being honest and courteous toward
law-enforcement officers including the U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services officers and the police officers
when and if they stop you and ask you a routine and/or
important question(s). When and if you receive any
kind of notices and/or official messages from any
law-enforcement officers, do NOT
hesitate to contact our school immediately so that
we may help you. Should you have ANY
questions regarding your status and/or if you are
NOT sure about anything,
please contact our school as soon as possible. “I
did not know that.” Is NOT
a good excuse at all!
- SO, DID YOU ALREADY KNOW ALL OF THE ABOVE?
- IF YOU DID, CONGRATULATIONS.
- IF YOU DID NOT, NOW YOU KNOW THAT SISA AMERICAN
LANGUAGE CENTER TRULY CARES ABOUT OUR STUDENTS AND
WE ARE COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION.
- KEEP ON READING THIS “DID YOU KNOW?” SECTION, AND
BE WELL-INFORMED.
- THIS (SECTION) IS JUST A CLICK AWAY TO ASSIST YOUR
STAY IN THE UNITED STATES AND TO BRING YOU UP TO DATE
ON THINGS THAT MATTER TO YOU.
- THIS IS WHAT SETS SISA AMERICAN LANGUAGE CENTER
APART FROM OTHER INFERIOR SCHOOLS.
- NOBODY DOES IT BETTER.
